Moving Truck Companies

Author: Steve Valentino

Moving truck companies usually retrieve items from a point of origin and drop it at a destination location.

Charges

When a moving truck company makes a shipment, it usually means the truck does not return to the same facility. The rental of the vehicle is just for a one-way trip. This is actually more expensive than a round-trip rental. But charges are dependent on the company and the season of the delivery. It is very difficult to find a one-way shipment at a reasonable price during the peak season.

Making use of one-way moving truck rentals on a weekend is more expensive compared to renting it for the same purpose on a weekday. Similarly, it is more expensive to rent the vehicle during the hot months. The supply also dictates the availability of the truck and the demand for the truck in the destination point. If the destination point does not have a high demand for moving trucks, then additional fees may be charged to cover for the return trip.

Payments

Payments are usually paid upfront, or at least a deposit is required. Depending on the company, credit cards may be accepted. Some companies accept only cash deposits.

You can opt to drive the truck on your own if you have a license that permits you to drive a truck, or you can follow the truck in your own car.

Guidelines

If you someone else is driving the vehicle, make sure to take an inventory of your belongings and their respective conditions. This is very important for furniture and fragile items.

Pack the products carefully to make sure that they will not be damaged. Place them in boxes, Styrofoam, cardboards, wooden crates, or other packaging whenever necessary.

You can also take advantage of insurance that is charged by the pounds. Only 10-20 percent of the damage will be covered.
