How to choose which home business opportunity to pursue can be confusing. There are so many opportunities and offerings and directions. So before you get caught up in the hunt for the right business opportunity, first identify what you might like to do. Make a list of those things. Additionally, besides hobbies, or skills, write down areas about which you have knowledge.

Examples might include surviving a winter storm with no electricity, or surviving a child's temper, or instructions for playing chess, etc. There are lots of articles or instruction manuals that can be written to assist people with everyday life. You can create your own original products to sell. Then you just need to learn internet marketing to identify how to get your product into the right hands.

Try not to get confused or overwhelmed. There are still two basic businesses: Sales of products or Sales of Services.

" Products include many tangible items such as nutritional products, tools, clothing, collectibles, crafts, etc, and digital or electronic products.

" Services come in the forms of client provided services, memberships of some value or discount for its members.

" Marketing is a service (which analyzing trends that lead to the identification of a demand and a means of providing for that need at a profit). Internet Marketing has, however, become a business in its own right, due to the ability to PACKAGE marketing results to sell as products, particularly on the Internet. The demand falls into 3 basic categories (product, information, or service). The explosion of the Internet has enabled more products and services to take the form of information or an electronic providing of a product or service for sale.

1. Product Sales

Many old school multi-level marketing (MLM) products exploded into a new product-focused Network Marketing, taking all the benefits of automation on the Internet. They still provide products for the home business seeker. This makes it easy to find items you like are would use.

Now, if you are not into "sales", you need to look for network marketing companies that have automated the prospecting, eliminated the cold calls, and maximized the automatic sponsorship with in your organization. Then you can just do your personal use for volume, depending on the established marketing plan.

2. Sale of Services

Many services such as business incorporation or copyright to name a few have popped up all over the Internet. Any service which saves a customer a trip to the courthouse or the store provides a benefit. Another service that works well with the internet is computer services, maintenance, or technical support.

3. Internet Marketing

The Internet Marketer will capitalize on the Internet due to the native study of the trends. Marketers teamed with software developers to create push-button websites, sales letters, you name it, for the would-be home business owner. But you still need to identify what business for which you are creating a sales letter! So when choosing affiliate programs to market, you'll have to do research to identify the demand for particular types of products. You want to choose ones that have a high demand to create lasting income streams.

So remember a few quick tips as you make your decision of what home based business to start:

1. Decide if you want a tangible product. If so, what type product? If the health and fitness or wellness and nutrition are of interest, seek those types of products.

2. Review the start up costs or can you start for FREE?

3. Is there a minimum order required and can this easily be maintained by your own consumption or will it require a large investment?

4. Is a Free website provided?

5. What's the compensation plan?

6. How long does it take for duplication (sponsorship or organizational growth) to occur?

7. Decide if you want to market electronic products.

8. If so, decide if you want to market someone else's electronic products (affiliate or public domain content the have created for you to market).

9. Decide if you want to create your own products tangible or electronic.

10. Will you write from public domain articles or create everything yourself

11. Decide if multiple streams will allow you some combination of more than one kind of business.

12. Decide on how to balance the business, your life, your money and your time.
