6 Marketing Methods Every Writer Should Use

Author: Jinger Jarrett

As writers, we are unique online as we already have a readymade market, regardless of what we write. All we have to do is take our genre, whether it's romance, non fiction, poetry, fiction, or any other form of writing and go where the readers are.

However, although it's easier for us to find our markets, it's also important that we use marketing methods that are effective for us, help us tell others about our writing, and develop a market of hungry readers who want to buy everything we sell.

There are five marketing methods that I recommend every writer use to make more money from his/her writing. The advantage to these marketing methods is that, as writers, it's much easier for us to make the transition because we love to write.

Below are the most effective methods for writers to market their writing:

1. Search Engine Optimization
Search engine optimization is crucial for writers if you want to be found.

The first step in optimizing your website for the search engines is to find the right keywords. You can use whatever genre you are in to help you find keywords. You can use a tool like Good Keywords, http://www.goodkeywords, which is free, to help you find the right keywords to optimize your website.

2. Article Writing
You will find that many readers are also writers. You can write articles about your genre to attract both readers and writers to your site. Not only will you attract readers and writers to your site, helping you build your audience, but you'll also brand yourself as an expert in your genre. Both writers and readers will come to you.

3. Ebooks
By giving away a free ebook, you can attract readers and writers to your site. You can offer a sample chapter of your novel, a small collection of your poems, articles on writing, or whatever you want. Your goal here is to get readers to join your list, as well as generate interest in your writing.

4. Forums/Networking
Forums and networking are great ways to meet your potential readers, as well as discuss writing. You can also use this technique to generate interest in your latest book.

5. Blogs
Blogs can help you generate interest in your writing because they are search engine friendly, allowing you to build a search engine strategy, and they also give you a way to communicate with your readers.

You can write your area of expertise in writing, as well as offer samples of your writing. This is also a great way for you to build a website, and once you've set up your blog, you don't have to hassle with HTML. You can focus on your writing and quickly and easily build a content rich website on your topic.

6. Press Releases
Press releases are one of the easiest ways to promote your writing because your writing is news. Every time you write a new book, collection of poems, or anything else that's newsworthy, you should write a press release and send it out. This will not only generate interest with readers, but it will also get you some great press, increasing the interest in your book.

Although there are dozens of ways to market your writing on the internet, for writers, these methods are the most effective because they are writing focused. If you want to make more money from your writing, then use these methods consistently to build traffic and sales to your writing site.
