"Princess Hurry" - A Fairy Tale Song Of Lost Love

Author: Kathy Ostman-Magnusen

This is a song about a princess who was 'not' rescued; a Prince who loved the Princess but did not come to her aid. Rather the opposite occurred when the Prince became the jealous villain. This is a true story and as real life sometimes goes it did not end happily.

I wrote this song sometime after this tragedy took place. It has been near fifteen years ago now... how strange, it feels so close to yesterday. I will not expand on the real life details any more except to say that one should always try to listen when hearts are speaking out in sadness. I will never forget the day before, the day of and the days after the tragedy for that reason.

Farewell dear Prince and Princess ......alas you may fly free.

"Princess Hurry"

On this night
She took her eyes from the clear flight
buried her dreams in a sons light
wrapped up in patriots marching.

Approaching
the turbulent sound of a peace dove
handed her fate with a white glove
that hastily captured the moment.

....Hurry ....... hurry...

And truly
white doves were made to be trusted
stories were meant to be ended
she had her cause
she pretended

Her dreams
focused on whole hearted ventures
always her lover would enter
climb up the mountain
and take her.

.....Hurry.... hurry .....

I think clouds should be noticed as dark signs
.... no time to waste
....so I'll....
......hurry
climb to the mountain
no time to waste ....hurry

Chorus:

(in soft voices in the background... continual)
No time to waste so I'll rescue the Princess
Hurry...... hurry

Author Bio:

Kathy Ostman-Magnusen

I began my career at four years old, in the back seat of my parents car, as they travelled the countryside. I have been exhilarated and tormented by art ever since. I wake up in the morning and go to bed at night thinking about it. I paint and sculpt women primarily; in their daily lives, in lives they might be afraid of, and in lives they wish they had. My goal has always remained the same; to hear them breathing and to know the passion I feel in my soul is met by theirs.

So I sing: "Hold me close dear angel, muster up a little tune, and rock me like a serpent, that rises to the moon."

In every single one of my paintings my objective is to 'know them' . To let each one reveal their own vision or message. I am often astounded as their presence unfolds & I am met with who they are. I then realize that who 'they' are, defines me as well. My hope is that my paintings & sculptures relate to you, their audience & that they give you the message you need for your own heart and soul.
