Why The Fulfillment Of Your Vision Delays

Author: Joanne Robinson

When God first unveils a business or ministry vision that He wants you to fulfill, it is often the case that there is a long delay or wait until the vision comes to pass. The reason the Lord has given you the revelation now is so that He can gain your attention and to equip you for the work ahead. The Lord is patient and well organized and will not move you into your appointment until your disposition matches the revelation. In other words, there is a work ahead of you that requires your character, understanding, knowledge, skills and experience to be prepared for the task.

If you are in a season of waiting, experiencing obstacles or delays to your calling do not be discouraged. Hold on to what God showed you and nourish the dream that He has given you. He will bring the work to pass but allow Him to do it in His time. There might be some things in your life right now or your heart that would prevent the work from being successful or even put a halt to it altogether. There may be people that the Lord needs to put into place that will assist in its fulfillment or new experiences ahead of you that God is going to use to bring you into the right position. Whatever it is, be encouraged that every experience, delay and obstacle you are going through is all part of the plan and is moving you into your appointed position.

Let me give you an example. About 2 years ago, I discovered a part of God's plan for my life, I was so excited by the vision that I set to task in designing my material, organizing meetings and setting up dates to commence my workshops. One day, while I sat there typing away at my presentation notes, I felt distinctly uncomfortable with what I was doing. I couldn't shake the feeling off so eventually I went to my bedroom and prayed.

I asked the Lord what was wrong and He told me to stop what I was doing and cancel the appointments I had made. His word 'no' was so loud and clear that it was obvious He didn't want me to continue with my course of action. I was very upset with God and argued with Him that I had gone this far and was too embarrassed to call the organizations and cancel the workshops. For 3 days I continued to argue and reason with the Lord and even tried to blame what I heard as the devil's attempt to try and stop me from fulfilling God's call! However, my conscience would not let me rest and eventually I gave up trying to fight the Lord and put a stop to my business transactions. I immediately regained my peace and was reassured by God that my time would come but it was not for now.

My attitude revealed a lot of things about my ability to follow God and allow Him to lead me, after all this was His work and His vision. However, I also found out that the Lord was being extremely compassionate towards me and was actually preparing a way for me to take some courses that would give me all the tools and experience I would need to run these workshops properly. Once I had finished the training, I realized that I didn't know enough to run these courses previously and I would have severely embarrassed myself in trying to run ahead of God by doing them.

Two years later, I have been through many experiences, training, trials and discipline that have given me a compassion and understanding for the people God has called me to minister to that I never had before. He has also grounded me by helping me reorganize my priorities and put my relationships with loved ones first and not my desire for ambition and success.

Use your waiting time to find out what God's priorities are in your life and allow Him to do whatever work He sees necessary to prepare you. If He has given you a vision, it will come to pass as long as you allow Him to guide and lead you. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Habakkuk 2:3
